ALLAIN GANAPIN WINS BRONZE BUT FALLS SHORT TO SECURE OLYMPIC SPOT

Despite finishing third in the Olympic qualifiers, Ganapin’s feat was not enough to punch a ticket in the Tokyo games as the winner of the tournament is the sole athlete to be given a spot.

Ganapin fell to Mongolia’s Batbayar Shinebayar, 10-41, during the semifinal match.

The Filipino jin got the first two points of the match, however, Shinebayar replied with 11 straight points and ended the round in his control.

The Mongolian continued to take advantage of the match as he took lead with 27-8 and keeping the OQT finals out of Ganapin’s reach.

Before his exit in the semifinals, Ganapin edge out hometown bet Ahmed Makableh, 32-25, in the quarterfinals.

The Tokyo Paralympics is slated from August 24 to September 5.
