ALEX EALA STARTS STRONG ON THIRD LEG OPENER, PULLS UPSET OVER ITF WORLD NO. 52
Filipina tennis star Alex Eala came back strong after opening another pro title campaign as she prevailed over Ana Lantigua de la Nuez, 6-0, 6-2, in the first round of the final leg of W15 ITF Manacor on Wednesday.
Eala is back on her tracks after her quarterfinals finish during the second leg of the tournament after being overwhelmed by Ylena In-Albon.
The 15-year old tennis ace pulled off a perfect sweep, 6-0, on the first set against hometown bet Lantigua de la Nuez.
The match lasted for an hour and 27 minutes with Eala being able to hold off her Spanish opponent to two points during their match.
Eala eliminated Lantigua de la Nuez who displayed a No. 619 and No. 52 World Tennis Association (WTA) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings, respectively.
The Juniors World No. 3 have reigned supreme on the first leg of the tournament claiming her maiden title and is set for another title campaign on the last leg.
In the second round on Thursday, Eala will be facing German Silvia Ambrosio who won against No. 1 seed Margot Yerolymos in their first-round match.
Eala recently climbed into the Top 1,000 of the WTA rankings, landing on her career-high 942nd spot progressing 248 places.
