ALEX EALA COMES UP SHORT IN QUARTERFINALS MATCH OF SPAIN TILT

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has to drop his second pro title bid early after suffering a defeat in her quarterfinals match against Swiss Ylena In-Albon, 6-0, 6-3, in the second leg of W15 Manacor ITF Rafael Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour in Mallorca on Friday.

Eala had a rough start as In-Albon, ranked 432 in the WTA Singles, swept the first set.

She started with a 0-3 deficit in the next set and started pulling her way through the match.

The 15-year old tried to bounce back in the second set and tied the score to 3-3, however, her Swiss foe managed to regain her momentum and ended the set to 6-3 claiming her victory.

In-Albon, 22, proved her supremacy on their match as she overwhelmed Eala in one hour and 25 minutes.

This ended Eala’s campaign towards her second pro title and halted her 7-game winning streak on her first title bid on the initial leg of the tournament last week.

Eala also had a stellar momentum last year winning the Australian Open girls’ doubles tournament and a semis finish in the French Open singles girls’ tournament.

Despite not being able to replicate her breakthrough win from the first leg, the Filipina tennis ace will have another chance in the third leg of the tournament that will commence on February 1.
