“I feel like I can make decisions pretty quick and making the right decisions pretty quick as well, whether on defense or offense. I just hope to make him proud,” he said.

The shooting- guard Ahanmisi has always had his respect for Coach Franz where in fact, he wanted to be like him and be even better during the PBA days of his coach.

“For sure, he definitely bragged about whatever he did back then when he played in the PBA,” he shared in The Prospects Pod.

“He would always bring it out whether we are having our own film session, or just to like joke around with the team. He would definitely show us and tell us to watch some clips when he was playing,” Jerrick added.

Pumaren is a former PBA champion player who enjoyed his career back in 1986 until 1998 with his stint dominantly with the roster of San Miguel.

Later on, the decorated mentor enjoyed coaching and with his unique way of conditioning the player, he was branded by Ahanmisi as a great coach. In fact, he led five UAAP titles with the De La Salle Green Archers and even helped the Soaring Falcons with great plays.

“He was one of those that I always looked up to because of how hard he works at making himself better everyday. He never took days off and he always showed us that working hard for what you want can be accomplished. If it weren’t without Coach Franz I don’t think we would’ve made it to three straight Final Four appearances,” Ahanmisi propounded.

Ahanmisi could be a great gun for any team in the PBA as he averaged 13.07 points, 3.57 rebounds, and 1.43 assists in his final season with the Soaring Falcons.

And with the new development for this 23-year-old in his career, there’s one important lesson he would always remember his beloved coach by, “…to always stay mentally tough and don’t let anybody get into my head whenever I was playing because he would always tell me that I always have a target on my back, everybody’s gonna go after me, and everybody’s gonna play hard defense on me,” Ahanmisi recalled.
