THE UNIVERSITY  of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines collaborated with the local government of Claveria in Misamis Oriental to boost the farming industry in the region.

USTP officials met with representatives from the Provincial Agriculturists Office, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Science and Technology to discuss solutions to farming problems in the area.

The municipality of Claveria is the main source of vegetables, coffee, bamboo, and mushrooms in the region.

It is the only land-locked municipality in the province and has also the largest land area.

“The roundtable discussion aims to strengthen agriculture in the area, identify problems in the farming sector and find possible solutions,” USTP said on its website.

The institutions will help USTP set up an Agropolis Science and Technology Park and an agriculture and food innovation hub.
