SK CHAIRMAN GUNNED DOWN IN LAGUNA

/ 16 April 2021

A youth leader was gunned down inside his house in Lumban, Laguna last Tuesday, April 13, according to a Facebook post by Sanggunian Kabataan-Siniloan.

The police said an unknown assailant barged inside the house of SK Lumban chairman Renzo Matienzo and shot him.

Matienzo, 26, sustained 10 gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Police Staff Sergeant George Maramag said the killer used a .45 caliber gun.

According to Matienzo’s family, the suspect ordered them, including the victim’s 4-year-old son, to lie face down as he shot Matienzo. The suspect also told them that Matienzo was his only target.

SK Siniloan condemned Matienzo’s murder and called for justice for the slain youth leader and all victims of extrajudicial killing.

Kabataan Partylist National Spokesperson Raoul Manuel also condemned the killing.

“Perpetrators of this crime must be held accountable. Even young local government officials are not exempted from such horrendous acts. End the culture of impunity! Stop the killings,” Manuel said.

Police investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the crime.
