PROJECT ON READING LITERACY LAUNCHED

/ 20 June 2021

THE SANGGUNIANG Kabataan-Council of Barangay Badas in Mati City recently launched its reading literacy project.

The program is aimed at helping schools in the community to combat illiteracy through ‘Project Basa: A One-Year Reading Intervention’ led by SK Chairperson Kerl Adrial Daligdig.

It aims to deliver a wide-range of community-based reading literacy to produce independent readers from non-readers, inculcate love towards reading, and promote enjoyable and interactive tutorials.

“This is our flagship program in SK Badas. With the support of language teachers from Badas National High School and Badas Elementary School, we already recognized 40 struggling readers in the community,” Daligdig said.

Beneficiaries will undergo a four-hour tutorial session using community-based learning and communicative-based reading approach every weekend for one year at the newly acquired Youth Literacy and Development Center, the SK chairman said.

Volunteers for the project ought to serve as reading buddies who will be in the frontlines towards achieving its goals.
