THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development reported on Monday, September 19, that at least P67 million has been given to indigent students in the Ilocos region.

The educational aid was distributed under the agency’s Assistance to Individuals-In-Crisis Situation program.

The department said that it received 319,612 applications but there were only 29,901 eligible students in the area.

During the distribution on September 17, the DSWD reported that 1,286 students in Ilocos Norte, 1,336 in Ilocos Sur, 38 in La Union and 3,304 in Pangasinan received financial aid.
