MARCO Jones Sagun, 18, a Grade 12 student at the Philippine Science High School – Ilocos Region Campus, was accepted as a presidential scholar at the Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Sagun, a son of a fisherman and fish vendor in Bolinao, Pangasinan, aims to pursue a degree in actuarial science.
He has a general weighted average of 1.186 and has been a consistent director’s lister since Grade 11.
On December 26, Sagun posted a request for financial assistance for the $1000 enrollment deposit and housing deposit he needs.
According to the university, as a President’s Scholarship recipient, Sagun is eligible for up to $120,000 in scholarship funds, as long as he maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25.
In a separate post on December 28, he said that he already secured the amount he needs.
