LGU BOOSTS DEPED FARM SCHOOL PROJECT IN ANTIQUE

/ 27 March 2021

THE LOCAL government unit of San Remigio town allocated P300,000 for the farm school project of the Department of Education In Antique.

Mayor Margarito Mission Jr. said the money will be used to construct two makeshift classrooms at the Aningalan Elementary School. The classrooms will be ready for the next school year.

“We have included in our Annual Investment Plan for this year the establishment of the makeshift classrooms. We will also be hiring four teachers to be funded by its local school board,” Mission said.

The DepEd division in Antique plans to upgrade the Aningalan Elementary School into an integrated school by next year, where farming will be included in the high school curriculum.

“DepEd teachers will be teaching the students new farming technologies which they could apply in their actual lives.

Through the farm school curriculum they could learn something which they could apply to augment their income in the future,” Mission said.

Dr. Gaudencio Reigo, chief of curriculum implementation of the DepEd Division of Antique, earlier said that students will be taught how to plant strawberries and other high-value crops and how to market them.
