FROM FOOD TO MODULES: CARINDERIA CONVERTED INTO SLM DISTRIBUTION CENTER
TO CONTRIBUTE to the education sector during the Covid19 pandemic, a family of teachers offered their carinderia as the head office and distribution center of self-learning modules in Barangay City Heights in General Santos City.
Levi Oringo, owner of the carinderia, offered the use of their building for free after the Francisco Oringo, Sr. Elementary School was converted into an isolation facility for Covid19 patients.
Oringo’s building and carinderia was turned into the headquarters and SLM distribution center in the area. The building was also used to store food packs used in the school-based feeding program.
The space has helped teachers and schools deliver education amid the pandemic.
