RESIDENTS of Mayoyao municipality in Ifugao can expect better internet connection with the installation of free wifi equipment by the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said that the project was part of the objective to provide fast and reliable internet connection nationwide.

“We are focusing on speeding up infrastructure buildup through our digital connectivity programs to address the increasing demand for connectivity,” he said.

The equipment was installed at the rooftop of the Barangay Affairs Office to serve as an access point to the incoming broadband connection in order to enhance connectivity in all of the 27 barangays of the municipality, DICT said in a statement.

Ifugao Provincial Officer Donald Trinidad and Municipal Accountant Peter Lahina Jr. facilitated the installation.

The municipal hall, where the Tech4Ed Center is installed, was also provided internet access.

As of April 28, the DICT has deployed a 8,851 Free Wi-Fi sites nationwide.
