DICT INSTALLS FREE WIFI IN AGUSAN PROVINCES

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology installed 332 Free WiFi For All hotspots in Butuan City, Agusan del Sur and Agusan del Norte.

DICT also said that 28 hotspots were set up in the municipal hall of Tubay in Agusan del Norte.

Present during the launch were Tubay Mayor Fidel Garcia Jr., DICT Undersecretary Jose Arturo De Castro, DICT-Mindanao Cluster 2 Assistant Regional Director Sittie Rahma Alawi, and OIC-TOD Chief Felix Tabanao Jr.

Tubay National High School Principal Glenn Dela Sala thanked DICT for the free WiFi, saying it will greatly help students in distance learning.

“As a school head, one of the big challenges I’ve ever faced amidst Covid19 is the implementation of distance learning, as well as the monitoring of teachers’ activities particularly when they are working from home. With these challenges, I strongly believe, and I do believe that the internet plays a vital role,” he said.

Agusan del Norte Governor Dale Corvera and Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane Jr. also thanked the DICT for its help in solving internet problems in the provinces.
