DICT CONDUCTS FREE DIGITAL JOBS TRAINING

/ 26 March 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology conducted free digital job training in the provinces of Samar and Eastern Samar.

The digitalJobsPH program of the department’s Visayas Cluster 2 aims to increase the technical skills of residents in the provinces and enable them to land a job in the field of ICT.

Of the 171 applicants, 30 were selected to undergo the Social Media Marketing and Advertising Course. Only 17 completed the two-month program.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said that they aim to improve the digital transformation of the workers engaged in ICT-based jobs.

Meanwhile, 11 scholars were given medals for their outstanding completion of tasks. While still on training, six scholars got hired.

“Your DICT aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the local workforce and communities by preparing them to engage with ICT-based jobs and industries, bridging the existing skills gap between manpower and the highly advanced demands of the global digital economy,” he said.

“We are constantly improving our capacity to discover untapped potential within communities with little access to resources and opportunities. We believe that by empowering more Filipinos, our country will have more chances to discover the next big breakthrough in business, in technology and in science,” Honasan added.
