DEPED ILOCOS URGES TEACHING PERSONNEL TO GET VACCINATED

/ 1 June 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education office in Ilocos region urged teachers to get vaccinated against Covid19.

“We asked the teaching personnel of DepEd in the Ilocos Region to take the opportunity to get vaccinated when the vaccines become available for their protection against the Covid19 and their household as well,” Dr. Romarie Joy Castillo, DepEd Ilocos medical officer, said.

To encourage the teachers to get jabs, Castillo said webinars and counseling are being held. There are also materials in social media featuring the stories of people who were already vaccinated.

Darius Nieto, officer-in-charge of the Education Support Services of the DepEd Ilocos, said at least 12,206 or 26.32 percent of the teaching personnel in the region are hesitant to get inoculated.

He said the department aims to vaccinate over 48,000 teaching personnel in the entire region.

The Inter-Agency Tasked force earlier included education personnel in the A4 priority list of the government’s Covid19 vaccination program.
