CANDABA LGU SUPPORTS STUDENTS

/ 28 November 2020

THE MUNICIPAL government of Candaba in Pampanga aided hundreds of students to enable them to continue their distance education.

Vice Mayor Michael Sagum said that about 700 students of the Don Honorio Ventura State University-Candaba campus were given tablets, uniforms and other assistance for blended learning.

“One of the priority projects of our municipal government is education. We are so glad that in less than a year, we were able to put up a state university which aided in the continuation of our project for education even at this time of pandemic. I am truly thankful that even during this crisis, the university is still operational, and we could cater to such a large number of students,” he said.

He added that 1,050 college students in public and private schools also benefited from the special employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment.

These scholars received P9,000 cash aid.

“Municipal government officials of Candaba pushed for the SPES program to provide temporary employment for the youth to pursue their education. We had to adapt with the new normal, so we had our beneficiaries do backyard gardening to produce vegetables, with the seedlings given by the Municipal Agriculture Office,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sagum reported that the municipal government allotted P1.6 million worth of bond paper to be used for the printing of modules for primary and secondary schools in the town.

“The problem that we have now is the internet. Our municipality does not really have a stable connection,” the vice mayor said.
