CAGAYAN STATE U DISTRIBUTES MILK IN CAGAYAN SCHOOLS

HUNDREDS of learners in Cagayan Valley received milk packs distributed by the Cagayan State University in Piat.

The processed milk were distributed in schools in the towns of Piat, Rizal, Sto. Niño, and Tuao under the School-Based Feeding Program of the Department of Education.

Some 33,580 milk packs were delivered in elementary schools, benefiting 1,679 kindergarten students and undernourished children.

The CSU bagged the milk contract along with the National Dairy Authority for the supply and delivery of milk packs to elementary schools through its Dairy Research and Cattle Development Center.

The pasteurized milk was processed using the equipment provided by the Department of Science and Technology and produced according to formulation and standards set by the NDA.

The National Feeding Program was established under the Republic Act 11037 also known as “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino.” It aims to provide a school-based feeding program and milk feeding program targeting undernourished children in public daycare centers, kindergarten, and elementary schools.
