YOUTH GROUP SEEKS JUSTICE FOR STUDENT KILLED BY POLICEMAN

/ 9 July 2022

THE KABATAAN Party-list condemned the killing of Grade 9 student Amierkhan Mangacop by Dr. Marvin Rey Andrew Pepino, a non-uniformed personnel of the  San Pedro Police Office in Davao City.

Kabataan Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel said Amierkhan was merely picking up his cousin at a bar when Pepino shot him seven times in a fit of rage.

“Amier deserves justice! The Filipino people deserve an end to impunity and lack of accountability among the ranks of the police. We call for a swift and impartial investigation to make sure perpetrators are held responsible. ‘Di puwedeng trigger-happy ang nasa kapangyarihan,”  Manuel said.

Manuel added that Pepino threatened customers by flaunting his father — Police Brig. Gen. Marvin Manuel Pepino.

“We mourn with the family members and loved ones struck by this tragedy as we call for justice for Amierkhan and all victims of police brutality enabled by state policy,” Manuel said.

Manuel deplored that too many lives have been lost because of the culture of violence and impunity among the ranks of the police and their non-uniformed personnel.
