YOUTH GROUP BATS FOR LABOR REFORMS

/ 3 May 2022

KABATAAN Party-list backed proposals to increase the minimum wage as it also called for reforms to improve labor regulations in the Philippines.

The group said young workers are also victims of unemployment and underemployment.

“Young workers are also the most vulnerable group to exploitative practices like contractualization and wage restrictions. We, as the sole representative of Filipino youth in Congress, have long pushed for the end of such practices through legislation under the Duterte regime and other past regimes,” the organization said in a statement.

The Kabataan Party-list said it will continue to seek the end of the practice of contractualization and push the implementation of P750 national minimum wage.

“Young workers can rest assured that we will stand with them come what may,” the group said.
