VICE President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio lauded storybook writers during the Gawad Teodora Alonzo 2023, 5th National Competition in Storybook Writing.

“[I]sang pagpupugay sa mga natatanging mga guro sa pagsusulat ng storybook,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Hindi madali ang magsulat, kinakailangan ito ng matinding inspirayon, kalinangan at pagtitiyaga, kaya hanga ako sa talento ng ating mga guro, at salamat sa pagbabahagi ng mga ito sa ating mga mag-aaral,” the Vice President added.

She told them their works will be a pillar of the MATAGAG Curriculum as they will serve as additional materials for the students to utilize in improving their reading and writing skills.

“Lagi kong sinasabi na importante na pagtuunan ng pansin ang pagtuturo ng pagbabasa at pagsusulat sa ating mga mag-aaral dahil ito ang pundasyon ng ating edukasyon,” Duterte-Carpio said.

The Education Secretary also announced that the Department of Education will conduct Catch Up Friday to help students catch up from their lessons, including reading and writing.
