VALENZUELA CITY TO STUDENTS: BE RESPONSIBLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
STUDENTS in Valenzuela City were urged to be careful with what they post on social media so as not to draw the ire of the public.
The city government issued the warning after a student was called out for posting an inappropriate joke online.
“Mayor may pasok o magkakaron ng funeral service diyan sa tapat ng bahay n’yo?” the student posted last week.
The statement caught the attention of Mayor Wes Gatchalian who called on the parents of the student.
Gatchalian met with the parents of the student who apologized.
“The City Mayor reminds students and all Valenzuelanos to be responsible users of social media, and the parents to guide their children in doing so,” the city government said on Facebook.
Netizens also backed the mayor on the issue and advised the children to be decent online as a sign of respect to others.
