VACCINES FOR KIDS AGED 5 TO 11 TO ARRIVE IN JANUARY

/ 12 January 2022

THE PFIZER-BioNtech Covid19 vaccine formulated for children aged 5 to 11 will arrive on the last week of January, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez said.

“Ito po ang last contact natin sa ating mga manufacturer. The TG Procurement and Finance shall order additional 10 million doses, in addition to the 15 million doses that was ordered earlier,” Galvez told the President during the Talk to the People on Monday night.

The Department of Health earlier said that kids below 11 years will be inoculated against Covid19 in February.

Last December, the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for the vaccine for children aged 5 to 11.

The FDA said the jab has an efficacy rate above 90 percent and its adverse events are very mild with no unusual or important safety signals, as shown in the clinical trial.

The Philippines aims to vaccinate about 13.5 million kids below 11 years old against Covid19.
