TEACHERS MAY REIMBURSE EXPENSES IF SCHOOL PERMITS, SAYS DEPED

/ 13 August 2020

THE DEPARTMENT of Education said teachers can reimburse their expenses to regional offices as long as these are included in the school’s education plan.

“May proseso. Siguro ‘yung iba nahihirapang mag-reimburse kung walang resibo. Pero hindi rin naman tayo puwedeng mag-reimburse sa gobyerno kung wala ring resibo. Siguro ‘yung proseso ang kailangang i-explain  sa kanila,” Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla said in a press briefing.

Sevilla  added that the DepEd Is willing to return the money spent by teachers for materials under the new normal teaching process.

“Kung naka-advance sila ay singilin, sigurado naman ako, may resibo ‘yan. So, madali namang bawiin kasi dina-download naman talaga ang pera. May pondo naman diyan. Sisinglin ang DepEd,” said Education Sec. Leonor Briones.

Briones, however, stressed the DepEd can’t reimburse for teachers’ expenses if it has not been specified by the school. Thus, she added the  importance for teachers to consult the principals if they need to pay for materials as these may be among those provided by schools.

She revealed that the DepEd has given teachers their salaries in advance.

“The Secretary has done everything para po lahat ng kanilang mga kailangan, for example, salaries, benefits and all other na matatanggap nila. Para hindi na po sila mag-isip, advanced pa nga po,” she added.

Briones added that the local governments of Makati, Manila, Pasig and Taguig are giving full support to schools and the teachers this coming school year.
