SOLON WANTS ROAD DISCIPLINE AND SAFETY EDUCATION IN SENIOR HS CURRICULUM

/ 17 October 2022

ONE Rider Party-list Rep. Bonifacio Bosita has filed a measure integrating Road Discipline and Safety Education in the Senior High School curriculum.

Bosita said that House Bill 5115 or the proposed Road Discipline and Safety Education Act aims to instill discipline, courtesy, respect and prudent caution while driving among senior high school students.

The bill also seeks to promote and educate teen drivers on road safety and traffic regulations and to provide insight on their driving responsibilities.

High school students need lessons on the operation and maintenance of motor vehicles, the lawmaker said.

The measure mandates the Department of Education and the Land Transportation Office to issue, free of charge, a student driver’s permit to every qualified student who completed the road discipline and safety education curriculum.

A student can apply for a non-professional or professional driver’s license after passing the required theoretical and practical examinations set by LTO.
