SOLON URGES DEPED TO DECLARE TREE PLANTING PROGRAM AS REGULAR ACTIVITY IN SCHOOLS

/ 6 January 2024

RIZAL Fourth District Rep. Fidel Nograles is urging the Department of Education to declare tree planting program as regular activity in every school.

Nograles’ call came following the successful tree planting initiative of DepEd in several schools nationwide.

It was learned that during the 236 Christmas Trees program of the department, around two million trees were planted across the country.

It surpassed the target of 236,000 trees.

In Cordillera Administrative Region alone, 1.1 million trees were planted by students and teachers.

Last November 17, 2023, based on a memorandum, the DepEd ordered 47,678 public schools in the country to plant at least five trees in their school grounds or spaces near their schools.

The solon stressed that the program aims to rekindle the sense of civic duty on youth to help in solving climate crisis.
