SA HALIP na pag-initan ang mga guro at idawit sa red-tagging, hinimok ni ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro ang gobyerno na tutukan ang mga matitinding problema ng bansa.

Kasabay nito, hinamon ni Castro ang Department of the Interior and Local Government na kondenahin ang lumabas na memorandum sa online kaugnay sa profiling sa mga guro kung hindi ito nanggaling sa ahensiya.

“We dare the DILG to denounce the memorandum circulating online if it is not an official memorandum from the agency. Profiling teachers and other government employees and red-tagging their legal organizations who have been at the forefront in forwarding their legitimate demands for their rights, benefits and welfare violates constitutionally protected freedom to associate,” pahayag ni Castro.

“This is not the first time that members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers have been subject to profiling by the Duterte administration. Since 2019, the PNP has conducted tokhang-style intelligence profiling that caused great concern and psychological distress for the safety and security of ACT members and leaders,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Sinabi ni Castro na dapat tutukan ng gobyerno ang vaccine rollout, pagtaas ng presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin at ang pagtataas sa kalidad ng edukasyon.

“With its skewed priorities in terms of budget and policies, it is the inutile and incompetent Duterte administration that has worsened the health, economic and education crisis in the country. The last thing it needs is red-tagging and profiling its government employees demanding for their rights and benefits,” sabi ni Castro.

Muling binigyang-diin ni Castro na ang mga miyembro ng ACT ay lehitimong mga empleyado na nakikipagtulungan sa Department of Education at iba pang ahensiya ng gobyerno para protektahan ang karapatan at kapakanan ng mga ito.

“Ang pag-iisip lamang ng isang rehimeng walang tunay na plano para sa substansiyal  na pagpapataas ng suweldo ng mga guro at kawani at proteksiyon sa kanilang mga karapatan bilang mga manggagawa ng gobyerno ang tatawag sa mga lehitimong organisasyon ng mga guro at kawani bilang mga ‘communist terrorist organizations,” diin ni Castro.
