PARANAQUE City Second District Rep. Gus Tambunting has filed a measure aiming to increase the cash assistance for non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education nationwide.

In his House Bill 8595, Tambunting said non-teaching personnel are currently receiving insufficient cash assistance annually.

The proposed increase is intended to address the prevailing socio-economic conditions, including rising inflation and the increased cost of living while enhancing the overall job satisfaction of non-teaching DepEd personnel.

“The justification for this increase lies in the need to alleviate the economic challenges faced by non-teaching DepEd personnel and to acknowledge their valuable contributions to the education sector,” Tambunting said in his explanatory note.

By considering the rising inflation and higher cost of living, the solon stressed that the proposed increase aims to provide non-teaching personnel with adequate support to meet their financial needs and improve their job satisfaction.

The measure will apply to all non-teaching personnel of DepEd in public schools nationwide and will be based on a minimum service requirement, ensuring that non-teaching personnel who have contributed to the education sector for a certain period of time are eligible for enhanced support.
