SENATOR URGES SCOUT RANGERS TO INSPIRE FILIPINO YOUTH
SENATOR Robinhood Padilla called on the Philippine Army’s Scout Rangers to inspire the youth to embrace the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and military training, stressing the need to prepare young Filipinos to fight external threats.
Padilla, a reserve captain in the Philippine Army, warned that recent developments abroad may affect the Philippines.
“Sana maging halimbawa tayo sa kabataan na yakapin nila ang military training. Sana kayo ang maging daan para ang mga kabataan, magkaroon ng inspirasyon at susunod sa inyong mga yapak,” he said at the conclusion of the Scout Ranger Course Class in Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan.
“Kailangan natin ng disiplina at ang disiplinang yan makukuha sa military training,” he added.
Padilla said he has great respect for the Scout Rangers because of their role in liberating Marawi from terrorists in 2017.
The senator expressed sadness that young people in other countries know how to disassemble and reassemble firearms but their counterparts in the Philippines are playing with mere toys.
“Nakakalungkot isipin yan sapagkat walang dedepensa sa bayan natin kundi mga kabataan natin,” Padilla said.
