SENATOR Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday urged the Department of Budget and Management to ensure that the education sector will get the biggest chunk of the national budget.

During the Development Budget Coordination Committee presentation of the 2024 national budget, Cayetano reminded the government to avoid any questions of unconstitutionality on the national budget.

“Having the biggest allocation doesn’t mean they have enough,” he said.

“When we do increase after the Bicameral Conference, can we make sure that it is not higher than the total of the three?” Cayetano added, referring to the Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Department of Education.

“Because we don’t want to question the Bicam, or not vote for it, or question it before the Supreme Court. We all agree that when our educational system becomes number one, the lives of Filipinos will really improve,” the senator said.
