SENATOR STRESSES NEED TO EMPOWER YOUTH

/ 3 October 2022

SENATOR Christopher ‘Bong’ Go stressed the need for the government to intensify its programs to further protect and empower the youth and provide them better access to quality education.

“Huwag sayangin ang naumpisahan ni FRRD, proteksiyunan natin ang kinabukasan ng kabataan,” Go said, referring to former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The senator made the call as he personally aided indigent students in Surigao City.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports provided bicycles and balls for basketball and volleyball to motivate the students to engage in sports activities and stay away from illegal drugs and other vices.

“Ang aking advocacy ngayon ay sports at health. Health para makarecover tayo sa pandemya. Sports para mailayo ang mga kabataan sa iligal na droga. Get into sports, stay away from drugs,” he said.

Go authored and co-sponsored Republic Act 11470 which established the National Academy of Sports in 2020.

The senator urged eligible yet unvaccinated students to get their vaccine and booster shots against Covid19.
