SENATOR SEES SPEEDY APPROVAL OF MANDATORY ROTC BILL

/ 21 December 2022

SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is confident that the Senate will approve the mandatory Reserved Officer Training Corps bill after the House of Representatives passed on third and final reading the proposed National Civil Service Training program.

“Mabilis ito, mabilisan na ito kasi lahat naman nag-a-agree,” Dela Rosa said.

The Senate Subcommittee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education has wrapped up its hearings on different measures proposing the mandatory ROTC.

“Maraming nagsuporta, merong ayaw siguro mangilan-ngilan pero majority ang susuporta dito lalong-lalo na this is a priority bill,” Dela Rosa added.

During the subcommittee hearing in November, the Commission on Higher Education presented consensus bill for the institutionalization of two year mandatory National Service Training Program and two year optional ROTC curriculum for college students.

Early this month, the House of Representatives approved House Bill 6687 or the proposed National Citizens Service Training Program.
