SENATOR Mark Villar filed a measure that will integrate the comprehensive study of Philippine History during World War II into the Higher Education Curriculum.

Senate Bill 1726 seeks to install a mechanism that will highlight the role of national heroes in the historical development of the country by emphasizing the history and stories of the struggles and heroism of Filipino soldiers who fought the Japanese occupational forces during the war.

For this purpose, Villar sees the need to integrate a comprehensive study of Philippine history during World War II which will cover a reasonable percentage of the mandatory Philippine history subject being offered under the general education curriculum in higher education courses.

The senator said that there is a need to remind the youth of the era when the Philippines gained recognition as a nation.

He was hopeful that integrating this subject will further instill a sense of patriotism and nationalism among young citizens.

Villar added that future generations should not forget the heroism of their forefathers.
