SENATOR SEEKS TO ESTABLISH PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE FUTURE IN TECHNOLOGY

/ 14 June 2023

SENATOR Juan Edgardo Angara filed a measure that will integrate technology in the education system of public schools through a Future in Technology program.

Senate Bill 2044 or the proposed Public Schools of the Future in Technology Act aims to address the problem of inadequate digital tools and promote technological integration in the education system, particularly in public schools.

The measure will create a PSOFT-Inter-Agency Task Force that will formulate and implement a road map to guarantee that all Filipino students have access to quality education and services.

The roadmap will serve as the blueprint for all the projects and programs aimed at refining the quality of education through the use of technology.

Angara said investing in digital equipment in public schools will ensure fairness and quality education for all, including those in remote and geographically isolated areas.

“Employing technology may enable education organizations to cut operational expenditures through automation and deliver predictive analytics to improve market awareness and decision-making,” he said in his explanatory note.

He added that paperless operations could be more cost-effective for educational institutions.
