SENATOR SEEKS REVIEW OF POLICY BANNING FRESHMEN FROM BSU SATELLITE CAMPUSES

/ 24 October 2021

SENATE Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri urged the Commission on Higher Education to review its decision disallowing freshmen from enrolling in satellite campuses of the Bukidnon State University.

During the hearing on the proposed 2022 budget of the commission, Zubiri said this policy prompted many students to discontinue with their studies.

The senator asked CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera to discuss the issue with BSU officials.

“Maybe we can meet with the rest of the CHED and your regional director, together with BSU, so that we can discuss how we can move forward on the issue on new, incoming students. Because you have a new circular not allowing satellite campuses to have freshmen,” Zubiri said.

De Vera vowed to resolve the matter.

“It is not a problem, we can find a solution that is beneficial to the students,” he said.

“We can find a win-win solution on this matter.”
