SENATOR PUSHES CREATION OF MEDIA ARTS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILS

/ 17 February 2023

SENATOR Raffy Tulfo filed a measure that will establish the Media Arts University of the Philippines.

Under Senate Bill 1881 or the proposed Media Arts University of the Philippines Act, the MAUP will be under the supervision of the Commission on Higher Education.

Tulfo said that the university will be the premier state university that will provide a comprehensive education in the various disciplines of media arts, including film, television, radio, journalism, and digital media.

The university will have its own governing board and administrative structure, which will be responsible for its operation and management.

The bill also seeks to create programs that will be designed to meet the evolving needs of the media industry and to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen careers.

The measure seeks to establish research centers and institutes within the MAUP, which will focus on cutting-edge research and development in the field of media arts.

The research centers and institutes will serve as hubs for collaboration between the university and the media industry, and will help to advance the field of media arts through cutting-edge research and innovation.
