SENATOR EYES TESDA CENTER IN IFUGAO

/ 8 April 2023

SENATOR Imee Marcos sought to establish a Technical Educational And Skills Development Authority Training and Assessment Center in Mayoyao, Ifugao.

She filed Senate Bill 1741 or the proposed Mayoyao, Ifugao Province TESDA Training and Assessment Center Act to help students in the region become self-reliant, productive and globally competitive.

Under the measure, the center to be established in Mayoyao shall primarily provide technical-vocational education and training programs to poor students and out-of-school youth, including persons with disabilities and indigenous people.

Marcos stressed that the easy access to education is the foundation of the development of the human capital of any country.

“Likewise, access to education should be inclusive and should be afforded to the Ifugaos to enhance and to formalize their skills to be used for their livelihood and for their locality’s economic growth,” the senator said in her explanatory note.
