SENATOR BATS FOR NATIONAL HS IN GREATER FAIRVIEW

/ 15 December 2020

THE EXPLODING population in Barangay Greater Fairview in Quezon City prompted Sen. Imee Marcos to file a measure that would establish a national high school in the area.

In pushing for Senate Bill 1867, Marcos said that the Constitution mandates the State to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education.

“The high schools in Quezon City have reported that they have been receiving increasing amount of enrollees the past few years,” Marcos declared in her explanatory note.

She added that schools in the city struggle to provide accessible and quality education to students because of their limited facilities and resources.

“To provide the residents of Barangay Greater Fairview with accessible secondary education, this bill seeks to establish a new national high school to be known as the West Fairview National High School,” Marcos said.

Senate Bill 1867 mandates the secretary of the Department of Education to immediately include in its program the operationalization of the West Fairview National High School.
