THE SENATE has approved a bill that seeks to convert the Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology into a state university.

The school, under the measure, will be renamed State University of Northern Negros.

NONESCOST said that the passage of the bill is a significant milestone for the college.

School officials thanked the lawmakers for passing the measure..

The college started as the Old Sagay Barangay High in 1970. It was later converted into an extension campus of the Iloilo State College of Fisheries before being renamed NONESCOST.

The college said that it will start offering the doctor of veterinary medicine program under its College of Agriculture and Allied Science.
