VICE President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio can use her political stock and high government mandate to gather support from various sectors once she assumes her post at the Department of Education, an official said.

“Ang tingin ko, magagamit niya ang political capital… na parang mas magiging madali kumuha ng suporta from all the sectors considering na napakataas ng kanyang posisyon at mayroon siyang mandato sa mamamayang Pilipino,” DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said.

President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. announced that Duterte-Carpio accepted his offer to lead DepEd.

San Antonio said that the outgoing Davao City mayor can use her position as the second highest official in the country would be an “advantage.”

“Advantage talaga ‘yun na kung ang mangyayari ay may mga dagdag na resources na kailangan ang DepEd, mukhang mas madali kasi Vice President ang nakikisuyo,” he said.

“We all know that there is a process when it comes to the budget and DepEd has been getting support for education,” he added.
