EDUCATION Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio urged Filipinos to value freedom and democracy.

“Pagtibayin natin ang halaga ng demokrasya na tinatamasa natin. Tibayan natin ang ating loob na malampasan ang mga pagsubok at hamon sa atin panahon ngayon,” Duterte-Carpio said during the anniversary rites for the 124th Malolos Congress and Malolos Constitution in Barasoain Church.

“We can do this if we love our country and through our unity,” she added.

The Vice President said Filipinos should enrich the country.

“Patuloy tayong maging bahagi sa pagkilos para sa pagbabago. Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas,” she said.

Duterte-Carpio led the laying of a wreath at General Emilio Aguinaldo’s statue outside the church, the site of the momentous event that took place there in 1898.
