THE CITY government of San Juan has installed fiber internet connection and television in classrooms in all of its 13 public schools to strengthen digital education.

Mayor Francis Zamora and Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio led the launch of free fiber optic internet connection in schools and installation of 55-inch smart TVs in all classrooms.

Zamora said the move will empower students by providing facilities and equipment that are better than private schools.

The mayor wants to replace the use of cardboard, manila paper and blackboards in classrooms.

“Giving our students quality education is part of my ten-point agenda as mayor which is in line with our objective of being a smart city. We want to empower our public school students by providing them with facilities and equipment which are comparable or may even be better than what private schools have,” Zamora said.
