PRC CANCELS LICENSURE EXAM FOR PHYSICIANS

/ 10 September 2021

THE PROFESSIONAL Regulation Commission has cancelled the Licensure Examinations for doctors scheduled on September 11, 12, 18, and 19 in the National Capital Region.

The PRC on Thursday said that the suspension was in pursuant to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases decision placing NCR under modified enhanced community quarantine.

“Affected examinees in NCR may take the next succeeding examination without forfeiture of their examination fees,” the commission said.

However, physician licensure exams in other testing locations such as Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga will proceed as scheduled.

“The PRC requests the public’s utmost understanding and cooperation as it complies with the guidelines set forth by IATF-MEID,” the PRC said.

The commission also postponed the holding of the Qualifying Assessment for Foreign Medical Professionals in NCR set on September 13 and 20.

Several organizations earlier urged PRC to postpone the PLE amid the spike of Covid19 cases due to the Delta variant.

They said that pushing through with the exam will threaten the safety of the examinees, proctors, and administrators.
