POSSIBLE SCHOOL ATTACK PREVENTED — DILG
INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Thursday that authorities were able to prevent a possible school attack in Leyte after receiving information about an alleged planned mass shooting.
Remulla said Senator Bam Aquino alerted him on Wednesday night about reports circulating in Tacloban regarding a possible attack.
“At 8 p.m. last night, Senator Bam Aquino called me. To my estimation, he was in Tacloban,” Remulla said.
“He gave me a tip. He said there was chatter in Tacloban about another impending mass shooting that could happen in Leyte,” he added.
According to Remulla, the alleged target was Tolosa National High School in Leyte.
The warning came days after a shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22, which left three people dead.
