POLICEMEN LAUNCH ‘ADOPT A STUDENT’ PROGRAM

/ 6 October 2020

THE EASTERN Police District on Monday launched its ‘Adopt-A-Student’  program that aims to guide and support the education needs of beneficiaries from poor families.

The target beneficiaries of the program are Grade 8 and Grade 12 students enrolled in Nagpayong National High School in Pasig City.

Personnel of EPD’s District Community Affairs and Development Division will handle the chosen students. The police officers will serve as foster parents of the children and will oversee their welfare, school needs and academic performances.

The handlers are composed of two teams with five members each. Team 1 will be led by Maj. Eric Cister. Cister’s team will handle the chosen students from Grade 12 while Team 2, led by Capt. Darius Agmaliw, will handle chosen Grade 8 students.

The teams are also required to conduct house visitation every week to help the students with their school work and assignments.

The project was formed in collaboration with the staff and teachers of Nagpayong National High School headed by Dr. Lorna Rodriguez.

The EPD expressed its sincere commitment in helping those students to achieve their goals de-spite the burden of poverty.
