PRESIDENT-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. said that the Department of Education under his administration will focus on science and technology, engineering and mathematics to enable the Philippines to catch up with other countries.

Marcos said he is committed to address the concerns on STEM education.

“Unfortunately, our educational attainment when it comes to mathematics and the sciences, we do not do very well as compared to other countries,” he said.

He added that the country should adapt now that global economy is technology-driven, focused on science and technical developments.

Senior high school students are introduced to advanced mathematical and scientific theories and concepts under the STEM strand, which will serve as a basis for their college studies.
