PH GEARS FOR WORLDSKILLS COMPETITION

THE PHILIPPINES, through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, will send 15 of its best graduates in different skill areas to compete during the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition scheduled in October to November.

TESDA Director General Danilo Cruz said the country’s participation in international skills competitions will help ensure that the country’s tech-voc training remains at par with international standards.

“As you go on with the competition, I encourage all of you to do your best in your respective skills and promote skills development among your peers,” he said.

Last September 27 and 28, 15 competitors and 15 experts in different skill areas attended a briefing that aims to provide information on matters related to the skills competition and prepare them for the challenges of international travel.

The WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition officially replaces WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 which was canceled in May due to the Covid19 pandemic.

In the Special Edition, 62 skill competitions will be held over 12 weeks in 15 countries and regions. The competitions started last Sept. 7 and will last until November 22.

The Philippines is set to participate in 15 skill competitions – 3D Digital Game Art, Bakery, Beauty Therapy, Cooking, Electrical Installations, Graphic Design Technology, Hairdressing, IT Software Solutions for Business, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Optoelectronic Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Restaurant Service, Hotel Reception, Automobile Technology and Information Network Cabling.
