THE CITY government of Pasig will distribute laptops and tablets to students who will shift to distance learning this school year.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto met with the city’s teachers and principals to discuss the distribution of around 77,000 tablets for elementary learners and 63,000 tablets for high school students.

The city government will also provide 5,220 laptops to public school teachers.

Laptops will also be given to students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig, particularly those taking up Information and Technology subjects.

Sotto said all students in a household will be provided with gadgets and will not be required to present a barangay certificate in claiming them.

He said that the city allotted P1.3 billion for the procurement of the gadgets through public bidding.

The Pasig City government inspected all the tablets to ensure that these were not defective.

Sotto said additional gadgets will be purchased for late enrollees and transferees.

The turnover of gadgets to schools will be done on September 30 while distribution will start on October 1.
