NATIONAL Parents-Teachers Association president Willy Rodriguez said that parents were not yet ready for the discontinuance of Senior High School program in state and local universities and colleges.

With this, the group seeks for the extension of SHS program in SUCs and LUCs.

“Sa ngayon po hindi pa handa ang ating mga magulang sa usaping yan. Kasi nga po madaming estudyante ang maaapektuhan,” Rodriguez said.

“Talagang hindi pa po handa ang ating DepEd sa ating mga public schools,” he added.

Earlier, the Commission on Higher Education reiterated its order to discontinue the SHS program in SUCs and LUCs.

Due to increased costs, Rodriguez said that this will significantly affect parents and students.

“Talagang mahihirapan ang mga galing SUC… Kulang ang mga teacher at rooms sa public schools. Another pahirap ito sa mga magulang kasi nga additional expenses,” Rodriguez said.
