ISINUSULONG ni Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Rep. Isagani Amatong ang panukala para sa pagtatayo ng state college sa bayan ng Labason.

Sa House Bill 3225, nais ni Amatong na i-convert ang Agro-Fishery High School sa Kipit, sa bayan ng Labason bilang Murcielagos State College.

Ayon kay Amatong, sa kasalukuyan ay iisa lang ang state university sa 3rd district ng Zamboanga at hindi naman kayang sakupin ang mga estudyante sa 12 munisipalidad ng distrito.

“This, it is imperative that the State must make appropriate steps in bringing education closer and more accessible to its citizens. Ultimately, the envisioned state college will elevate the quality of life and livelihood of the people of the province,” pahayag pa ni Amatong sa kanyang explanatory note.

Sa panukala, ang kolehiyo ay mag-aalok ng undergraduate, gradate, short-term technical-vocational courses at iba pang degree at non-degree courses.

Magpapatuloy naman ang technical-vocational courses o mga programa sa ilalim ng Technical Education Skills and Development Authority at maging ang high school curricula.
