P1K INCENTIVE FOR WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY SET FOR RELEASE — DEPED

/ 3 October 2021

TEACHERS from public schools across the country will receive their P1,000 incentive for World Teachers’ Day starting October 5, according to an official of the Department of Education.

Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla said Secretary Leonora Briones already gave an instruction to process the payment for the benefit as early as August.

“We have instruction to pay it not earlier than October 5 because that’s stated in our budget law,” Sevilla said in a media briefing.

“So, by October 5 we are hopeful at marami ay na-check na namin, naka-kasa na, naka-ready na by October 5. They will receive their P1,000 incentive per teacher as the World Teachers’ Day Incentive,” she added.

A delay in the payment of the incentive, Sevilla noted, might be due to several issues beyond DepEd’s control.

“It could probably because of their quarantine status, banking hours, remittance of cash payment,” she said, assuring the teachers though, they will still get their incentive benefit.

The DepEd earlier announced President Duterte approved the release of the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit for 2021 with the total cost of P910 million.

The grant is in line with the government’s commitment “to faithfully support the teachers for their dedication in delivering quality education.”
